Words fill our lives from the time we wake until the time we fall asleep and even then sometimes they occupy our dreams. Words are how we communicate whether they are spoken out of our mouth, typed through our fingers or sung at the top of our lungs. We speak, read, think and even process ideas through words which surround us the majority of our lives. They shape our ideas, how we think of the world around us and how we think of ourselves. The good and encouraging ones, and also the bad and discouraging ones.
Why does that matter? Because the words that are being spoken today are anything but healthy and good. Words that were once despised are now common and accepted in today’s society being spoken by young and old alike. And we wonder why the world is full of chaos and misery!? Look at the words you’re thinking, writing and speaking. Are they fruit bearing or are they derogatory? We have an overabundance of quality words to express our feelings in this world, and people decide to use the f-bomb or other derogatory words! How is that essential? What does that convey? They may think they are “dope” but in all reality they have just degraded themselves by lowering their standards so much that they can’t think of a healthy expression to use. It’s unnecessary and unhealthy for anyone listing or reading their content. There is a plethora of other words that can bring a point across without having to degrade yourself or your audience while doing so. You have an opinion, that’s wonderful and I’d love to hear it, now the question is can you share it without lowering your standards.
Remember, the words you think, write and speak effect not only the people hearing and reading them, but also yourself. For the words you give life to will impact your life whether you want them to or not. Want this world to be a better place, start by looking inward!
Speak life, not death.
