The Road We Pave

18 May 2020

Our lives are full of twists, turns, bumps, holes and many detours. Through every moment though, we always have a choice in how we respond. Each day we choose what we say, where we go, who we speak to, what we eat, what we wear and how we present ourselves. Whether we have many years under our belt or just beginning our journey, there is one thing we all have in common. A choice. A choice to be a person who is narcissistic, or to be someone who takes the time to make a difference in someone else. Travel the road less traveled. Someone who can disagree with their neighbor; yet still live peacefully together. Knowing one thinks differently; yet, able to respect the other as a fellow human being. Someone who can look at life’s challenges, troubles and hard times, and still keep moving forward living day to day, moment to moment, peacefully.

Could such a person exist? Yes. That person is you. If each one of us made a point to look beyond our differences and treat others as fellow human beings, half the problems that exist in the world would immediately vanish. Strength is shown through self-control and respect, not in the tearing down  of others. You want to be respected and honored? Choose to respect and honor your fellow by your thoughts, your words and your actions. Treat others the way you would want to be treated.

Want to change the world or the people around you? Start by changing who you are, and the world will follow. All it takes is one person, one life, and one choice. What road will you choose to travel down?
